If you're working with a database that has many entities, it may be convenient to have the Datastore Entities displayed in groups. The Datastore tree can be grouped in two ways. To change the grouping, right-click the Datastore in the Project Explorer, and select one of the grouping options in its context menu. The No Grouping option is on by default.

Group By Type

The Group By Type option simply groups the Datastore Entities along their types.

Group By Category

The Group By Category option groups the Datastore Entities along categories that you can define yourself. Datastore Entities are grouped using the Category field in the Table Designer. Entities that have not been assigned to a category will be listed in alphabetical order at the bottom of the Datastore tree.

Example: all entities have been assigned to either the LibraryContent category or the Membership category.
