Impact Analysis is a tool that gives insight into the dependency relations that exist between templates and/or Database Repository items. The Impact Analysis can be opened on most items in the Project Explorer, on items in trees and lists on Template Options Pages and on various Database Repository configuration pages. The Impact Analysis of an item is opened from its context menu.
The Impact Analysis page displays one or more hierarchies of templates and/or Database Repository items. All items listed in blue text have a dependency relation to the item that the Impact Analysis has been opened for.
In the example below, the Impact Analysis has been opened on a table definition in the Database Repository. The Impact Analysis shows that various items in the Database Repository, and some templates in a BO Layer project depend on it.
Be aware that the Impact Analysis can only detect and display dependencies in projects that are opened in the GenWise Studio IDE.
If you choose Delete from the context menu of a template or a Database Repository item, the Impact Analysis will be displayed in the Delete Dialog, providing an overview which templates will be deleted if you confirm the template removal.
