Installing optional Database Providers

Topic updated 8-5-2007

To install optional database providers follow these steps:

1.Open the Database Providers window by selecting Tools - Database Providers from the main menu of the GenWise Studio IDE.
2.In the Add a single Database Provider section Click the ... button, and browse to the Optional Database Drivers subdirectory in the GenWise Studio program folder (on English versions of Windows, this would typically be: C:\Program Files\GenWise Studio\Optional Database Drivers).
3.Select the DLL that matches the database for which you want to install a Database Provider, its complete path should now appear in the textbox under Select GenWise Provider Assembly (DLL).
4.Click the Add button. The path of the Database Provider assembly is added to the Configured Database Providers list.
5.Click the Database Provider in the Configured Database Providers list, and click the Load button.

The optional Database Provider will now be ready for use, providing that your computer's configuration meets the requirements for the associated database.

If you install an optional Database Provider, but your computer's configuration doesn't match the requirements for the associated database, an error will occur as soon as you try to make a connection to a database of that type. Check the requirements in the Supported Databases section before you add optional Database Providers.
