Agentive (Now Punchcard) vs. DataSnipper: Audit Automation
Agentive is now Punchcard. Compare its audit workflow with DataSnipper using evidence traceability, review controls, pricing and pilot criteria.

Audit automation should make evidence easier to inspect, not make judgment harder to trace. The useful comparison is where requests, workpapers, testing and review happen—and whether another auditor can reconstruct the result.
Brand update: Agentive now presents itself as Punchcard. The original Agentive URL redirects to Punchcard. We retain this article's original URL so existing links continue to work. Product information was reviewed September 7, 2026.
What changed in the comparison?
Punchcard's current presentation brings requests, evidence, agent work and review together. It describes CoAudit working across Punchcard, Excel and Word. The old distinction that Agentive works outside Excel while DataSnipper works inside it is therefore no longer a reliable dividing line.
DataSnipper presents an audit and finance automation platform. Its UpLink guidance describes PBC document requests, review of AI-annotated responses and export into DataSnipper. Neither product should be reduced to a single feature or treated as a substitute for engagement supervision.
Start with the audit bottleneck
Separate three problems: obtaining the right evidence, performing the procedure and documenting a conclusion. A firm may need to improve one without replacing its entire engagement process.
For requests, define who supplies the evidence, what period and entity it covers and how rejected submissions are handled. For testing, identify the approved procedure and who evaluates exceptions. For review, decide what the manager must see before accepting the work.
Automation can prepare an output; the responsible professional still determines whether it supports the intended conclusion.
Evaluate Punchcard with a complete unit of work
Ask for a demonstration using an approved sample request and the corresponding audit task. Follow the instructions, uploaded evidence, agent output and review decision through to an export.
Include an incorrect-period document and an incomplete submission. Confirm that a reviewer can see what changed after a file was replaced. If an agent supplies reasoning or citations, open the cited source and check that it supports the result.
Clarify which features are available to your proposed account, which remain beta and what requires an additional subscription. Do not staff an engagement around untested automation.
Evaluate DataSnipper in your real workpaper environment
Use a representative workbook and document set. Ask staff to extract information, inspect source references, handle an exception and hand the workbook to a reviewer.
Where UpLink is in scope, test the request-to-workpaper handoff rather than only the upload screen. Check whether review annotations and evidence remain accessible to the people who receive the final workpaper.
Confirm compatibility with your supported desktop environment, file storage, Office configuration and review process. Familiarity with Excel does not eliminate training or deployment work.
Compare evidence quality before time savings
| Pilot check | Acceptance evidence |
|---|---|
| Source traceability | Reviewer can locate the exact supporting document |
| Corrections | Replaced or corrected evidence does not leave a silently stale result |
| Exceptions | Unresolved items remain visible with an assigned owner |
| Export | Required workpapers and references remain usable outside the pilot |
| Access | Staff and client roles see only their intended engagement material |
Use approved test data until the vendor review and account configuration permit client information. Request current assurance documentation, data-use terms, retention/deletion details and the scope of any AI subprocessors. Do not treat “audit-grade” marketing as a security assessment.
Pricing and rollout
The earlier estimated seat prices and low-four-figure platform estimate were not verified quotes and are not retained. Obtain comparable proposals covering users, modules, volume, onboarding, support and export needs.
Pilot one manageable engagement segment. Measure reviewer rework, unresolved requests and preparation time together. Avoid a rollout during a busy period merely because a generic calendar labels it a good implementation season.
